Ice Wine Harvest - Niagara College Winery
Students from Niagara College Winery picked Ice Wine grapes this morning. The temperatures dropped to minus 13, which is the ideal temperature, for harvest. Ice Wine grapes are usually picked at night, but the cold snap forced the students to pick in the morning. The water freezes in the grape, thus only the grape sugar is pressed. Niagara is the largest producers of Ice Wine in the World.
Canon Blast
This was a very difficult image to photograph. To see what actually happens when a canon is lit is quite remarkable. This photo was done on film, and my shutter finger was right on the money.
Brock Burial
The casket leaves the church ceremony. It made it's way to Fort George, where General Brock was buried. Later on, he was moved to Queenston Heights. He was laid to rest a total of four times. General Brock was a true Canadian Hero. God Save the Queen!
Battle of Queenston Heights
Battle of Queenston Heights was one of the bloodiest battles. General Brock was shot by the Americans during this war. This victory solidified are position in Upper Canada. In this photo the British are getting ready to attack the American Forces. The battle took place on Oct 13, 1812, 205 years ago.
