Spring Around
Spring is just around the corner. The warm weather has created an exuberance among
the Niagara residents. Going outside and having some fun is a favorite pastime, for us all.
It feels great to release all that stored up winter energy, breathe some fresh air, and get some rosy
cheeks in the process. Everyone is anticipating our upcoming hot summer, and Canada's
150th birthday.
De Vine
Vineyard management is the key element in producing excellent wines. It all starts by having knowledgeable
hands to work the farm. The insight Jamaicans possess allows them to fully understand plant life which is vital.
The first step is proper pruning, which enables the vine to produce new and clean growth.
Ice Bridge
Our last winter snow storm created an ice bridge at the shoreline of Lake Ontario. The
ice formation has enough density to support a heavy weight. The Arctic landscape
can be created in our neighbourhood, with enough polar weather.
Tobogganing
March Break is a span of time where students go out and enjoy themselves to escape the routine
environment of school. It gives them a chance to relax, recoup, and restore their energies.
They will be our leaders one day.
Windy City
Wednesday's wind storm was reminiscent of the one we had in 2011. Environment Canada said winds hit
104 km/h and peaked by 3 p.m. The strong gales wreaked havoc in Niagara-on-the-Lake destroying trees and poles,
leaving 200 homes without power. Hydro responded immediately and got everyone up and running by 4 p.m.
The powerful wind storm was only a small taste of the destruction Mother Nature can provide.
